RED Helps Out With Thanet Lions Club Sight Awareness Day
Last Saturday, Thanet Lions Club held a Sight Awareness Day to remind us all to have regular eye checks. These checks are important for maintaining eye health can also detect more serious health issues. The Thanet Lions Club is a member of Lions Clubs International, the largest voluntary service organisation in the world
RED helped attendees to understand the challenges faced by blind and partially sighted people, in a dual control car. Local Thanet MP Sir Roger Gale attended and after taking part in the driving challenge said “it was a salutary reminder to us all to look after our eyes”.
Thanet Lion Bob Prebble, explained that “Lions Clubs International has a key focus on helping the blind and tackling preventable blindness. Thanet Lions collect spectacles for reuse in third world countries, collecting some 5000 pairs of spectacles annually”.
